Purpose of the position

Reporting to Manager, General Ledger & International, you will focus on the accurate recording of journal entries relating to treasury activities, for various SMART Technologies entities.  Journals entries relating to other GL areas may be assigned to you as well.  You will also be responsible for properly reconciling the bank accounts and other GL accounts assigned to you.

Responsibilities and accountabilities

• Record and reconcile daily banking entries.
• Record and reconcile monthly loan / interest and investments entries.
• Reconcile Stripe payments & refunds between Stripe reports and MSD on a weekly basis.
• Liaise with other teams in Finance (AP, AR, Tax, Treasury etc) to investigate any discrepancies in bank / Stripe reconciliations.
• Reconcile all assigned GL accounts, investigate any anomalies, and ensure reconciling items are corrected on a timely basis.
• Record any other GL entries as assigned to you.
• Ensure timely completion of month-end activities.
• Assist with year-end audit.
• Perform other duties as required.

Education and work experience

• A university degree with a specialization in accounting or finance
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting related role
• Experience with MS Dynamics 365 or other ERP systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Keen to build positive relationships with work partners
• Strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved
• Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills

Supervision provided and received

•     This position does not have any direct reports

•     Supervision for this role will be provided by your manager

•     Supervision will be a combination of regularly scheduled meetings and informal and ad hoc communications on urgent issues or as required

Working conditions

•     Office-based role, fast-paced work environment

•     Typical office hours are from 0800-1700 M-F

•     Timelines for reporting are tight, may require working on reports off normal business hours
